As President Bola Tinubu has expressed his intention to reshuffle his cabinet for enhanced service delivery and success, a group known as the Mandate Protection Vanguard (MPV) has emphasized the urgent need to include experienced and highly skilled individuals as ministers in the forthcoming cabinet.
In a statement signed by its Coordinator Comrade Gbenga Soloki “There is no doubt that numerous experts exist across the six geopolitical zones who can significantly contribute to the government’s effectiveness and acceptability.”

“While no one is contesting Mr. President’s decision to appoint politicians and close allies as ministers and state ministers, there are many other qualified Nigerians who have excelled in both private and public sectors. Some have served at the state level, while others have had the opportunity to work at the federal level.”
“The current economic challenges facing the country require credible and economically savvy ministers who can effectively deliver in their areas of expertise. This will help make the administration’s programs and projects more popular and achieve substantial results that can ultimately guide the nation out of its current difficulties.”
The group identified several candidates, starting with Mallam Nasir el Rufai, describing him as a knowledgeable politician from northern Nigeria. Trained as a quantity surveyor, he earned a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University.
He has held roles such as Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises, Minister of Federal Capital Territory, and the immediate past Governor of Kaduna State.
Another suggested individual is Senator Shehu Sani, noted as one of the few figures from northern Nigeria who collaborated with pro-democracy activists to advocate for the restoration of democratic rule in the country.
Additionally, the group highlighted the former Minister of Power, Prof. Bart Nnaji, a seasoned administrator with expertise in the power generation sector.
He holds a professorship in Electrical Engineering and has served as Minister of Power, Special Adviser on Power to the President, and Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
The group also proposed Senator Adeleke Mamora, a medical doctor, former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, and ex-minister in the Buhari administration. According to Adebola, Dr. Mamora is a composed professional with extensive experience in his field.
Another candidate mentioned is Ojo Samuel Olukunle, a seasoned technocrat and public servant proficient in public policy formulation and implementation.
A Harvard-certified public administrator, he has significant experience in general administration, public finance, and budgeting. He served as a permanent secretary in the Lagos State Governor’s Office before being appointed Chief of Staff to the state governor, focusing on human capital development—one of his key legacies in that role. He is recognized as a competent administrator and finance expert, according to the statement.
