Wilfred Ndidi has become the ninth Nigerian footballer to achieve 200 appearances in the English Premier League.
He joined this elite group during Leicester City’s 3-2 victory against Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium last Saturday.
Despite this milestone, Ndidi has a considerable journey ahead to reach the top of the list.
The record for the most appearances by a Nigerian in the English top flight is held by Newcastle United legend Shola Ameobi, who made 298 appearances during his 14-year tenure with the Magpies.
Following Ameobi, former Arsenal star Nwankwo Kanu ranks second with 273 appearances, while Alex Iwobi comes in third with 261 appearances.
Yakubu Aiyegbeni, a former Everton striker, occupies the fourth position with 252 appearances, and John Mikel Obi is fifth with 249 appearances.
Joseph Yobo, in sixth place, has 228 appearances to his name. Victor Moses and Victor Anichebe round out the list with 220 and 205 appearances, respectively.
