The Super Eagles of Nigeria have ascended three positions to rank 36th in the October FIFA rankings.
According to the latest update on the website of the world football governing body, Nigeria accumulated 1,503.29 points during the review period.
In their most recent match, the senior men’s national team secured a narrow victory against their Libyan counterparts in the first leg of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, winning by a single goal on October 11 in Uyo.
This improvement in ranking also positively impacted the team’s continental standing, now positioned fourth in Africa, trailing Morocco, Senegal, and Egypt, a significant rise from their previous sixth position in September.
On the global stage, the recent international window witnessed the completion of 32 qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2026, 47 for the CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2025, 79 Nations League matches, and 17 friendly matches.

In the top tier of the rankings, Argentina remains in first place, though their lead over second-placed France and third-placed Spain has narrowed. England (4th), Brazil (5th), and Belgium (6th) have retained their respective positions.
Portugal (7th, up 1) and Italy (9th, up 1) are the only teams to have climbed within the top 10, which is rounded out by the Netherlands (8th, down 1) and Colombia (10th, down 1). Germany (11th, up 2) is now closing in on the top 10.
Algeria (37th, up 4), Peru (38th, up 5), and Greece (42nd, up 6) have made notable advancements, while Cameroon (49th, up 4) has re-entered the top 50.
