Nigerian social media influencer and activist Martins Otse also known as VeryDarkMan has revealed how he acquired the controversial audio recording allegedly associated with social media figure Idris Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky.
His testimony took place on Monday, September 30, during a session of the House of Representatives joint committee investigating bribery allegations involving officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and Haliru Nababa, the controller-general of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
Although initially reluctant to speak without Bobrisky present, VeryDarkMan was encouraged by his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, to proceed. During his statement, he mentioned that he obtained the contentious audio from someone who claims to have lent Bobrisky money.
VeryDarkMan stated that the loan of N4 million was allegedly given to Bobrisky while in custody, specifically on June 19, 2024.
The activist recounted instances where Bobrisky reportedly resorted to blackmail when it was time to address the debt.
He presented messages as evidence, illustrating the tense exchanges regarding the loan.
The lender sent Bobrisky a reminder stating, ‘this is a reminder for the return of the loan amount of N4 million as agreed, with a due date of September 1,’ which Bobrisky had initially set.”
He went on to share the lender’s frustrations: “He mentioned that he offered help when Bobrisky was in need, but when it came time for repayment, Bobrisky started making threats.”
Backstory
The controversy began when VeryDarkMan leaked an audio recording of Bobrisky where he claimed to have paid #15million bribe to some EFCC officials to drop the money laundering charges against him. He also revealed that he served his six-month jail term in a private apartment instead of prison.
Bobrisky was absent at the hearing held at the green chambers with his lawyer citing illness as his reason for not showing up.
