The Nigerian Customs Service in Kebbi State intercepted goods worth over N126m, including foreign rice and petrol, to combat smuggling. The Area Comptroller emphasized the economic harm and dangers of smuggling, highlighting the command’s efforts in patrols and community sensitization. Items seized also included second-hand clothing and premium motor spirit.
Others were 39 lumps of Indian hemp (cannabis sativa), 78 rolls of Diclofenac Sodium, 300 wraps of diazepam tablets 5mg each, 57 packs of sex enhancement drug (black diamond), 150 expired powdered milk, 50 pieces of used tyres and 20 pieces of rims, 20 cartons of foreign spaghetti, 20 bags of foreign sugar and 10 jerry cans of vegetable oils.
The value of seized items is N126,278,959.60, excluding PMS value. The achievement was credited to the efforts of various teams and collaboration with sister agencies.
Ojike mentioned that the Indian hemp would be given to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency. The revenue generation in the command was affected by the border closure between Nigeria, Benin Republic, and Niger Republic.
The command generated N7,215,500 in two months, a 125% increase from the previous two months.
