The Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, has disagreed with certain Ibadan High Chiefs regarding the health condition of the Olubadan-designate, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin.
Ladoja spoke to reporters after Eid-el-Fitri prayer at his home in Ibadan on Wednesday. He mentioned that the remarks were simply personal opinions as the chiefs lacked medical expertise.
The media recently quoted Otun Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Abimbola Ajibola stating that the Olubadan designate is unwell and requires time to recover before his coronation.

“Has anyone seen him since last Friday? People who attempted to visit him after Friday were unable to do so. They are putting pressure on him. We need to allow him time to recuperate,” he stated.
Nevertheless, Ladoja informed the press that these opinions were unfounded speculations and not supported by medical evidence.
“The remarks made by Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, and others regarding the health condition of Olubadan designate are simply personal opinions that should not be taken seriously.”
None of those discussing the health of the Olubadan are medical professionals, so they lack the credibility to comment on the matter.
“He mentioned that only God has the power to decide a person’s lifespan, who will ascend to the throne, and how long they will reign.”
The ex-governor mentioned that a meeting to address matters related to the Olubadan stool has been scheduled for Friday.
He stated that the court case he filed regarding matters concerning the Olubadan stool was to protect his rights from the intimidation of certain Ibadan High Chiefs who took the crown because he declined to join them.
He indicated his intention to drop the case if they cooperate with him for the sake of peace in Ibadanland.
Ladoja mentioned that if he were to become the Olubadan of Ibadanland, he would not retaliate against any High Chief who was accused of collecting.
“In the Olubadan palace, there are strict rules that prohibit anyone other than the Olubadan from wearing a crown.”

“They are free to wear their crown however they please, but not within the Olubadan’s palace. There cannot be two individuals wearing crowns in the Olubadan’s palace,” he stated.
Ladoja emphasized the importance of reviewing the 2014 National Conference reports, noting that the report addressed numerous challenges currently faced by the country. He encouraged Muslims to continue their good deeds beyond the Holy month of Ramadan and advised Nigerians to persist in praying for their leaders at every level, seeking God’s guidance.
