The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced that it will impose sanctions on Starlink due to a recent tariff increase.
Starlink has raised its monthly subscription fee from ₦38,000 to ₦75,000. Additionally, the cost of the equipment for new users has risen from ₦440,000 to ₦590,000.
This increase will impact both new and existing customers.
Reuben Muoka, the Director of Public Affairs for the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), stated that
He further emphasised in a statement released on Tuesday that the Commission will take appropriate enforcement measures against any actions by a licensee that could undermine the regulatory stability of the telecommunications industry.
According to the NCC, Starlink “prematurely announced price changes, which violates Sections 108 and 111 of the Nigerian Communications Act (NCA) 2003, as well as Starlink’s Licence Conditions concerning tariffs.
