The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has reported yet another partial grid collapse, marking the seventh incident in 2024
TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, reassured the public of recovery efforts with significant advancements already made.
Ndidi noted that recovery operations commenced immediately, initiated by the Azura Power Station, which provided a blackstart.
The Abuja area and other major distribution centers received power as well.
Mbah also pointed out that the partial disturbance did not impact the Ibom Gas Generating Station. the plant was isolated from the grid yesterday and continued to supply power to regions in the South-South, including Eket, Ekim, Uyo, and the Itu 132kV transmission substations during this period.
She added that an investigation into the incident’s cause will occur after full restoration.
