The Nigerian Army announced on Monday that its troops, working alongside Volunteer Guards for counter-terrorism operations in the North Central region, thwarted a kidnapping attempt and rescued two victims in Benue State.
Responding to a distress call from Tsede Village, near Road Tor Donga Takum in Katsina Ala Local Government Area of Benue State, troops swiftly mobilized to engage the suspected kidnappers. In a shootout, the kidnappers were forced to retreat, leaving their captives behind unharmed.
The rescued victims, identified as Chief Sano Kursi and Augustine Sada, have been safely reunited with their families.
Additionally, the troops recovered a cache of weapons, including an FN rifle, rifle magazines, and ammunition, as well as three ATM cards.
The operation underscores the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property in the region. It also highlights the importance of cooperation between security forces and local communities in combating crime.
