The World Bank has approved a substantial $1.57 billion in new lending to Nigeria, directed towards three projects focused on enhancing health services for women and children, as well as improving dam safety to bolster resilience against climate change.
According to a statement from the Washington-based institution, the financing includes $500 million for health and education improvements, $570 million dedicated to primary healthcare services, and $500 million for power and irrigation initiatives.
He further stated that this new funding aimed at human capital and primary healthcare will tackle the complex challenges faced by Nigerians, particularly women and girls.
